Friday, Sept. 8, 2006 | Re: “Responding to Responses.” Mr. Carter, even you should understand that insulting the taxpayers who fund your employer is not good policy. I suspect San Diego voters/taxpayers have just about had enough of the MEA golden goose approach.

The stranglehold the former president, and self anointed general manager, has on the constituents of the MEA is disconcerting. Union bosses often ignore the damage they cause corporations and governments. They insist on higher wages and more benefits that often come at the expense of taxpayers. As union leader Rick Dubinsky, Airline Pilots Association, put it. “We don’t want to kill the golden goose. We just want to choke it by the neck until it gives us every last egg.” (United Airlines filed for bankruptcy in 2002.) I personally don’t believe the citizens of our fine city will let that happen here.

And I will extend a sincere apology to Ms. Mournian, Ms. Parham, and SD taxpayers, for the angry and insulting responses seen here. Unfortunately that sort of attitude is representative of the attitude that pervades much of the MEA. It’s my way or the highway.

On the issue of argument, the problem, Mr. Carter, is that your argument has no basis in reality. It is defenseless. Come November 7th, I suspect you may experience a moment of clarity.
