Fred Sainz from the Mayor’s Office called back on the issue of Steve Cushman’s apparent push to be allowed to stay on the port for a third term. Cushman’s term on the port ends in January.
Sainz said that Mayor Jerry Sanders has “informed Mr. Cushman that he will not be able to support him for a third term on the port commission that he was seeking.”
Sainz said it was nothing against Cushman, who has been on the port since 1997.
“Just as the mayor supports term limits for elected officials, he supports term limits for appointed officials. He doesn’t support any exception that would allow any individual to serve three terms,” Sainz said.
