Rep. Brian Bilbray continued to maintain a 10-point lead over Francine Busby after the Registrar of Voters posted an updated vote tally on its website yesterday.

Bilbray has 53 percent of the vote and leads Busby by more than 17,000 votes.

Busby has refused to concede the race until all absentee, provisional and paper ballots are counted. Her campaign manager, Ray Drew, said he believes a large portion of those votes were cast in Busby’s favor and that the gap will close considerably in the coming days.

But Bilbray’s lead increased by approximately 700 ballots Thursday compared to Wednesday’s totals.

Approximately 180,000 ballots remain to be counted, according to the registrar’s office.
