In response to Capitol’s question:

You know this idea is so simple it isn’t even funny. Unfortunately, the red tape and binational politicking that will have to be dealt with for this to happen will take a decade or longer to cut through. I guess my question is why does there have to be a terminal or shuttle. Why can’t Americans just drive down to TJ when they want to fly out of TJ? It’s closer than LAX…

Currently, most regular business travelers from San Diego drive and leave their car in Mexico. The problem, however, is that the Mexican insurance can be costly if you are leaving your car for more than a couple of days. I believe most U.S. travelers would prefer leaving their car on the U.S. side of the border. I collaborate with professionals from the East Coast who travel to Southern Baja via Lindbergh Field/Tijuana International Airport. The connections from Los Angeles International are available but Tijuana offers more flexibility, plus, why not also visit San Diego?
