While we’re still waiting to hear back from Chula Vista Mayor Cheryl Cox about our story on the potential conflict of interest that drove Laurie Madigan from her post as an assistant city manager, readers noted that our story today left out another instance where the Madigans were admonished for their government dealings.

The city of San Diego Ethics Commission fined Mike Madigan $1,000 in 2003 for not reporting Laurie Madigan’s ownership stake in MNA Consulting, which represented the Padres baseball club and the city’s downtown planning agency while he was in charge of coordinating the development of Petco Park.

You can view that settlement with the Ethics Commission here.
