Mayor Sanders really demonstrated his true colors when he told your reporter in an interview on the upcoming budget discussions that “she (the independent budget analyst, Andrea Tevlin) has the luxury of not having to run for office.” This was the mayor’s explanation for decimating city workers and reducing services rather than recommend any new revenue streams in next year’s budget.
My suggestion is that if the mayor feels this way, he should not seek re-election and instead put the public’s interests ahead of his political ambitions by pursuing a balanced fiscal policy in the time he has left in office.
