Mayor Jerry Sanders today took his weeklong budget tour to picturesque Balboa Park, where he reprised yesterday’s theme that his budget for next year will not cut municipal services such as parks, recreation, libraries and arts programs.
Sanders said his budget, which needs the City Council’s approval before it can be enacted in July, would also fund operations at 10 new parks and recreational centers in the city of San Diego and also bolster funding in the city’s aquatics programs.
Library hours for next year will remain at their current levels, he said.
And, without specific dollar amounts, Sanders committed to funding the San Diego Convention Center and the San Diego Convention & Visitors Bureau.
Sanders will release his proposed budget in its entirety Friday, but will continue to release bits and pieces of the plan throughout the week.
