Sunroad Enterprises is calling a press conference at 9 p.m. to make a “major announcement regarding the Centrum building,” company spokeswoman Karen Hutchens said this evening.

The press conference will be held at the controversial 12-story building in Kearney Mesa, which has been the subject of scrutiny since federal, state and city officials deemed it hazardous to nearby pilots at Montgomery Field.

City officials have urged the company to start disassembling the office tower so that it complies with a 160-foot height limit. The company has so far been mute on the demand. City Attorney Mike Aguirre claims the city can unilaterally lower the building itself, if Sunroad chooses not to comply.

Check back later for more.
