Friday, Oct. 19, 2007 | How’s about Jerry Butkiewicz for mayor? He’s made strategic friends with the San Diego establishment but would have the support of labor and many ordinary citizens. He knows how to run an organization, to stand up for what he believes in, to cut whatever deals are necessary to keep all the balls in the air. He is articulate and passionate about what regular people need to have a decent life.
And if being mayor will prevent him from taking a big-bucks private sector job with downtown special interests, then I am all for it. Even if we’re not originally from Chicago, we can learn to spell this name: BUTKIEWICZ.
