Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2007 | Congratulations to voice writer Emily Alpert for transcending easy stereotypes in her story on La Jolla High School students working through Project Mercy to build homes for poor families in Tijuana. I think privileged teenagers long to have meaningful connection to the world as it is, and in this instance Paula Claussen and Rotary have allowed local kids to have a concrete learning experience while making a genuine contribution. Kudos all around.
