Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007 | Jobs at the U-T will vanish until advertisers understand that online ads actually allow much better targeting than print. CraigsList’s dominance in classifieds isn’t helping any.

Their staff will shrink substantially until labor costs drop to match ads. The U-T won’t go completely under, worst case is that they’ll lose the printing press and spend some time fixing their website.

voiceofsandiego.org and U-Twill probably both be overshadowed by local news aggregators in the next few years. Think Digg.com but for local news.

Of course a revenue without ads is ideal when you’re dealing with journalism.
