City attorney candidate Lee Burdick wrote KUSI yesterday demanding equal time on the television station in light of its weekly feature with incumbent City Attorney Mike Aguirre.

From her letter:

As you may know, I am a candidate for San Diego City Attorney. I have been watching Good Morning San Diego every Wednesday morning for the last few months with great interest as your purported “news program” has featured current City Attorney Mike Aguirre on a weekly basis. Surely you are aware that Aguirre has declared his intent to run for reelection this year and that he is using your station for free publicity and as a soapbox to support his reelection campaign. Consequently, I hereby respectfully demand — based on federal law and principles of equity — that you provide my campaign equal time in a comparable time slot to that which you allow Mike Aguirre on a weekly basis.

Aguirre has been doing the weekly feature since early in his first term in office.
