Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2008 | Rob Davis‘ piece on the plight of The Union-Tribune is interesting, especially with respect to who would talk to him. But Karin Winner is an oxymoron. I have never concealed my contempt for her professional abilities and the sycophants she surrounds herself with. The Union-Tribune is destined to be a modern-day dinosaur headed for extinction under its current management. That is sad since there are still real news people who work there.

Coincidentally, San Diego Magazine has a puff piece called “Who you Gonna Call? San Diego’s Power Brokers” in its February issue. Karin Winner is named as the mover and shaker of media. This suggests that the author of this awful verbal garbage, Dean Nelson, needs some lessons in the changing political landscape of San Diego. When you look at his other choices of movers and shakers, you realize he is so out of touch with reality, he is probably ineducable.
