Friday, Feb. 29, 2008 | It was sad for this former shop steward and union organizer to see that the Labor Council endorsed Scott Peters even though he voted in the past with the Republicans on the City Council against the living wage proposal. A bedrock principle of the labor movement used to be solidarity with other workers. I guess this has been replaced, in San Diego at least, by political calculation and self-interest on the part of union leaders like Ron Saathof. What’s next? An endorsement of Jerry Sanders?
