With the departure of three internet executives earlier this week, The San Diego Union-Tribune announced that Mark Davis, currently the company’s vice president of strategy, will also oversee its product development and Internet sites.

In a statement, the newspaper said:

This change results in having to say goodbye to Chris Jennewein, vice president of Internet sites.

“We thank Chris for all he has done and his contributions over the years,” said Gene Bell, president & CEO. “His work has built a strong foundation for our Internet business and our evolution into a multimedia company — an evolution that will continue, as we adapt to our readers’ changing media habits and preferences.”

Other changes are happening at the paper. Bill Nagel has been named senior vice president of business channels, the paper’s effort to incorporate Internet and print sales. He was formerly vice president of marketing and is the paper’s former circulation director.

The statement continues:

Nagel will be responsible for developing and marketing channel-specific products and growing audience and revenue.

In addition, Scott Whitley has been named vice president and chief revenue officer. Whitley will report to Bell. He will be responsible for major media sales, direct marketing, advertising operations, sales training, budgeting and cross-channel sales management.

Whitley was formerly the newspaper’s advertising director.
