Thursday, May 29, 2008 | Why does the Union-Tribune keep pushing a yes vote on Proposition C? Yes on Prop. C gives the mayor power to hire the “independent” auditor. A no vote will give the six-member audit committee, the council, and the independent budget analyst the job of hiring the independent auditor (through thorough vetting).

“Strong Mayor” executes what the council legistates. The council needs to be as strong in their duties as the mayor is in his. That is fair and equitable. The people want fair and equitable. “Strong Mayor” does not mean dictator.
