My colleague David Washburn just told me he passed that National City condo buildingon his way in to our office.
The banner is gone, Washburn reports, in his debut contribution to Survival in San Diego.
You might remember the earful Ron Morrison, National City mayor, gave us about his frustration with the signs, which he called “stupid” and said they’d caused the city “nothing but heartache,” with their advertised starting bids of $59,000.
I just caught Morrison on the phone, who confirmed the sign came down yesterday.
I asked him if he pulled the sign down himself.
“I told them I might have to,” he said, laughing. “I told them I have a razor knife and I know how to use it.”
