Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2008 | For those who don’t know, Grantville redevelopment is all about Madaffer and his cronies taking private property and distributing it amongst themselves to take control of Grantville. They hope to make millions of dollars building condos and other buildings without proper infrastructure. The area already has severe traffic problems which will get worse with an unfortunately rising population. Madaffer called the area blighted in spite of successful businesses there, including one with at least $3 million in gross revenue per year.

I have used at least 20 successful businesses there over the years. Madaffer says he has $600 million to spend there, but does not acknowledge that the money belongs to taxpayers and not to him. The Council, except for Donna Frye of course, voted last year to allow Center Point development with more than 577 condos and other buildings in the same area. The City said that about $112 million would be needed to help with traffic problems there to allow Center Point, but the Council did not allocate the money for this purpose.

Taking County tax money from Grantville to use downtown is a further insult to property rights. The County says the area was not blighted in the first place.
