Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008 | I watched the “debate” on KPBS between Judge Jan Goldsmith and City Attorney Mike Aguirre. It was more like the spectacle of a parent and a teacher attempting (unsuccessfully) to control an unruly child.

Aguirre tried to deflect questions regarding his steady stream of courtroom defeats by complaining that Goldsmith is a judge, not a lawyer. Goldsmith responded: “Of course he doesn’t want to run against a judge. He doesn’t do well with judges.” Then Goldsmith compared him to Teddy Roosevelt, except Aguirre talks loudly and and carries a toothpick. Hilarious!

I enjoyed the fireworks, but plan to vote for Goldsmith to restore adult supervision to our city attorney’s office.
