The Ethics Commission tonight announced a settlement with City Attorney Mike Aguirre for his solicitation of campaign contributions from 133 city employees.

The settlement states that the solicitations were sent by a campaign consultant without Aguirre’s knowledge. It also notes that the “contention that the inclusion of City employees was inadvertent is supported by the fact that two of the City employees who received the e-mail communications were Council President Scott Peters and Councilmember Brian Maienschein, both of whom were running against Respondent in the June 2008 primary election.”

Aguirre was fined $1,500.
