As San Diego Unified starts eyeing deeper and deeper cuts, I’m starting to take a look at the different programs that could be cuts. One of those programs is Seminar, a program for the most gifted students in San Diego Unified, which has historically enjoyed a lower class size than other programs. Staffers have proposed changing the student-to-teacher ratio from 23 to 25 to save nearly $1 million.

I want to hear about your opinions and experiences with the Seminar program. Are you a teacher who specializes in the program? Are you a parent who swears by it — or is skeptical of it? Send me an e-mail at emily.alpert@voiceofsandiego.org or give me a ring at 619.550.5665.
