Friday, April 24, 2009 | How can anything called the “Voice of San Diego” be so sorely lacking in the diversity that richly creates this community of San Diego?

I was excited when I heard about this on NPR, then I went to the forum last night and saw how the room was populated. It caused me to take a step back and have a look at the website again only to see that not one of the “voices” seems to represent the Hispanic/Latino population and point of view.

Not surprising, the Black and Asian community too seem to be missing from the choir. With those communities having such a huge influence on what we know as San Diego, it seems to me that someone who’d go so far as to call this the “voice of” would consider the full extent of the experience here.

The county is a system of people and cultures. Our reality here is created by all of us.
