Jeff Light is the new editor of The San Diego Union-Tribune.

Light comes to the paper from the Orange County Register, where he’s worked since 1993. He’s served in a variety of roles at the Register. He’s been the deputy editor for the paper’s website; he’s overseen special projects and was part of the paper’s 1996 team that won a Pulitzer Prize in investigative reporting.

He replaces Karin Winner, the Union-Tribune’s longtime editor who retired at the end of last year.

We’ll have more soon.
