The reporters at voiceofsandiego.org sort through facts in their everyday reporting, but we’re not omnipresent beings. We can’t follow every radio show, watch every episode of local news, attend every public meeting and read every newspaper. Time is a precious commodity when a deadline is fast approaching.
So that’s where you come in. We need people to help us monitor statements being used to impact the quality of life in San Diego. That includes statements made in (and by) the news media, public forums, business promotions, social media declarations and much more.
If you think a statement is factually questionable, let us know. If there’s a statement that is defining a public debate and you don’t know whether to trust it, tell us.
The best way to suggest we fact check a statement is by sending an e-mail to factcheck@voiceofsandiego.org. Make sure to send the original statement, a description of where it appeared and a brief summary of why you’re skeptical of its authenticity. Your e-mail will remain confidential.
You can also contact me with any questions about the Fact Check Blog, how we examine statements or how you can become more involved. My e-mail address is keegan.kyle@voiceofsandiego.org. To make an anonymous fact check suggestion, call me directly at 619.550.5668.
