Yesterday, the California Coastal Commission staff issued a new report recommending that the port be required to build a new Waterfront Destination Park along the North Embarcadero in place of the promised Broadway Landing Park, which would be eliminated from the Port Master Plan (PMP) to make room for the port’s new cruise ship teriminal. The staff recommendation also says that if the port wants to drop the promised crescent shaped pier at the foot of Grape Street from the PMP, it will be required to build a new public pier of the same size somewhere along the North Embarcadero, perhaps in front of the historic County Administration Center, in a timely manner.
