No wonder our education system is at the bottom of the heap. Why is the school board spending time in politics instead of dealing with the many issues and problems of education?
These people are showing their ignorance in even discussing a resolution on Arizona’s business. Why don’t they just tell all the parents and children to move out of the USA? Arizona’s law is the same as the federal law so why aren’t they issuing a warning about living here? If they are going to bother to comment at all on Arizona’s business, they ought to simply remind students that the police always have a right to ask for your ID if you are breaking a law or are suspected of doing so.
The school board’s comments only serve to encourage disrespect for the law of the land. It is a rebellious and defiant attitude towards law enforcement and is not helping this “me generation” to grow up into responsible citizens of society. If there is no law of the land, no enforcement or respect for it, then we will have anarchy.
If their resolution does state, as you say, that the Arizona law allows racial profiling, that is an outright falsehood. The school board should be held accountable in some way for lying and misreprensenting, as well as inciting animosity and civil unrest. It is actions like this that threaten public safety. Perhaps the board should spend a few days in Phoenix doing ride alongs with the police before they open their mouths and show their ignorance.
Really, can’t San Diego do better than this and put people on the school board who can read? Or at least think?
