Last night, I stopped by a fashion show featuring the work of Portia Kirk, the seamstress we profiled in this month’s installment of People at Work. Kirk has a line of clothes marketed primarily to strippers, but also makes gowns and other clothes that she was showing off at last night’s show. (Disclosure: Kirk is also a friend of mine)

Before the lights went down and the music came up, I took a look at where the other photographers were in the room. I learned very early on that one of best ways to make more creative images is to look where all the other photographers are and then go somewhere else.

So, with seven or eight photographers packed at the end of the runway, I decided to place myself on the opposite side and shoot facing into the lights. Here are some of the results.
