Critics at the Los Angeles Times highlight three San Diego picks in their what’s-noteworthy-for-fall roundup:

• “Notes from Underground” at La Jolla Playhouse (runs Sept. 17 to Oct. 17)

• “Welcome to Arroyo’s” at The Old Globe (runs Sept. 25 to Oct. 31)

• Collection Applied Design: A Kim MacConnel Retrospective at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego (open Oct. 9 to Jan. 23, 2011)

That last one look familiar? Ben Strauss-Malcolm showed us a Kim MacConnel painting when we stopped by to see what’s on his wall last week.
