The week before Adrian Florido did this Q&A with Leon Williams, the city of San Diego’s first black councilman, he sent out this message on Twitter:

It’s been a long time since I’ve been as sincerely charmed by two people as by Leon Williams, SD’s first black councilman, and his wife.

So, when I approached the photo shoot with him, I knew it would be a fun one. Williams is someone who’s been photographed enough that he knows how to be comfortable in front of the camera and I thought his light-hearted character came across in the photo we ran.
