While shooting a project today, one of my camera bodies started doing something funky: the mirror locked up and I couldn’t look through the viewfinder.

It’s fixable but is painful nonetheless. The camera is now in the repair shop. This is the cost of doing business for people who shoot tens of thousands of pictures per year.

But I’m someone who tries to look at the bright side of things. The consolation here? As I tried to figure out what was wrong with the camera, I shot these pictures, without a lens on the camera, which produced some neat, colorful patterns. My silver lining:
