The Story
A scandalous two-year old wrongful termination lawsuit involving a former high-level city of San Diego employee looks headed to trial this fall.
The Cost
The City Council recently allocated an additional $250,000 to defend the case with outside attorneys, meaning the city’s legal bills could reach $450,000. That figure doesn’t count more than a year of work by the City Attorney’s Office.
What’s Next
A San Diego Superior Court judge has set a Oct. 7 trial date, but both sides say they’re open to settlement talks.
