Scott Lewis and freshly vacationed Andrew Donohue discuss the nerds vs. jocks power plays between proponents of a new Chargers stadium and a Convention Center expansion. Take some of the existing hotel tax for the stadium? The hoteliers say no. A new tax for either project? They’ll need two-thirds of the public vote. Scott Lewis sums it up:
It has to do with a hotel tax that we get a lot of benefit from that funds tourism areas, beach cleanup, firefighters, libraries, everything that tourists use and that we use. And that is going to go up, it looks like, unless this whole thing explodes and nobody gets anything they want. And where’s the mayor?!
