The city of San Diego is close to changing its rules for what can be built where in Barrio Logan. It’s rezoning much of the neighborhood with the hope that over time, the new rules will eliminate the current land use mish-mash prevalent in that community: Industrial businesses operating next to residential homes. Homes that are tucked between industrial businesses.
But as I reported recently, that plan has been highly politicized. The changes would result in a net loss of industrial land, and industry representatives who own businesses that serve the adjacent port are fighting it.
I joined our media partners at NBC 7 San Diego on Wednesday to talk a about what this fight is all about.
