This week we stopped in to a rehearsal for Malashock Dance’s upcoming “Raw” performances. The company, joined by guest choreographers Henry Torres and Angel Arambula from Tijuana’s Lux Boreal troupe, is rehearsing three pieces linked only by the notion that their choreographers could make up dances without boundaries. There aren’t fancy costumes or lights or sets in these performances, as associate artistic director Michael Mizerany explained to me in the clip below:

Tonight’s free previews happen in the Malashock studios in Dance Place at the corner of Dewey and Truxtun roads in Liberty Station at 6:15 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.

The full performances are in a couple of weeks, Thursday through Saturday, at the La Jolla Playhouse.
