The Issue
The city of San Diego knows it has a huge backlog of infrastructure repairs. But, oftentimes, it doesn’t know exactly what it needs to fix.
The Example
Work crews have spent months repairing a storm drain in University City blocks from a different drain pipe that failed last week and created a giant sinkhole.
What’s Next
San Diego’s repair plans include examining and fixing the worst kind of storm drain pipes, but officials say the city lacks the money for a more thorough assessment.
