Listen to the latest episode of the VOSD radio show on KOGO AM 600, which airs Saturdays at 7:30 a.m.

Editor Andrew Donohue and CEO Scott Lewis talk about how San Diego schools are on the brink of financial insolvency and where the roots of it lie.

Next week, VOSD is partnering with NBC 7 San Diego on a week-long series, including a special five-part San Diego Explained, that looks at the schools’ dire financial problems, how they got there and what solutions exist. We’ll air one a day beginning Monday during the 6 p.m. NBC newscast, and we’ll also post them on our site.

We’re then hosting a live discussion on Thursday Dec. 8 at Liberty Station about what schools could do. We also want to hear from you: “If the state put you in charge of San Diego Unified School District, how would you fix things?” Submit your thoughts on this form and we’ll host your commentary.

Donohue and Lewis also look at a Fact Check of City Council President Tony Young on his statement that a restaurant can’t add a pool table without going through extra regulations.

Plus, find out why they named cookbook store baron Barbara Gelink VOSD Radio’s Hero of the Week and the Chargers-owning Spanos family the Goat of the Week.
