As a participant at the Municipal Officials for Redevelopment Reform property rights conference, who attended and spoke at the joint oversight hearing that followed, I can attest to the article written by Mr. Peterson. In the community development and local government hearing, John A. Perez, speaker of the Assembly, admitted “it was never the intent of the members of the Assembly to shut down redevelopment agencies.” He went on to say that unfortunately the League of Cities and the California Redevelopment Association refused to participate in the legislation. In Mission Viejo we plan to contact the Department of Finance to scrutinize our enforceable obligation payment schedule.
