I am guilty to say if I’m approached by a homeless person, I would pull out change and felt like I gave to the needy. Your article is making me more aware about homelessness; mothers with children that have hit hard times, seniors with limited funds. I went ahead and volunteered to count in January, and I signed up to serve food on Feb. 21 for the Alpha Project.

I was not familiar with VOSD. Yes, I get U-T San Diego, but I pick and choose what I want to read. I enjoyed your article. I think many of us give to our churches and feel we have given to our community, and have done our job. By you putting more of a face on homelessness, it’s made me want to get involved.
