What some readers are saying about the issues:
There is time to solve the parking problem in Balboa Park. I believe there can be funding to simply tunnel eastwards from near the Museum of Man and arc south, exiting near the organ pavilion. Using existing streets as the entrance to the underground arc and rising at the organ pavilion, such a tunnel can be created without disruption to the area.
Once that is done, the underground area can be expanded in future years to include revenue-generating shops. This is the normal way it’s done, like at the Louvre in Paris, in the center of Moscow and even at our nation’s capital. By careful selection of shops, revenue sharing might generate enough cash to return the park’s museums to free admission.
A billion dollars for an expanded Convention Center and football stadium shows the idiocy of our city fathers. There is no sense of heritage or even of good taste. The Jacobs plan for Balboa Park was an example of cheap repulsive claptrap being rammed down our throats “for our own good.”
San Diego Superior Court in Kearny Mesa had a general service line of what appeared to be more than 100 people on April 10 at 9 a.m.
Efficient functioning of the California court system is essential to civil and criminal due process under the United States and California Constitutions. Efficient functioning of the California court system cannot occur when the courts are understaffed, mismanaged and closed.
The failure of this publication and other San Diego alleged “news” organizations to maintain a calendar of what government functions are closed or run inefficiently or understaffed is a serious disservice to the public and the readership.
It is unlikely that this letter will be published since the so-called “news” organizations in San Diego have an editorial bias which usually does not include letters critical of the “news” organization.
