San Diegans love to brag about their city’s beer bona fides but brewers say the city hasn’t always welcomed them.

Jacob McKean, owner of the soon-to-open Modern Times Beer, claimed San Diego police protest every new liquor license in the city in an effort to impose restrictions.

McKean is working with Mayor Bob Filner to create a craft beer task force that aims to make regulations less onerous for breweries.
