San Diegans hit the polls Tuesday to elect the city’s next mayor. Democrat David Alvarez and Republican Kevin Faulconer were vying for the vacated office of former Mayor Bob Filner. By the end of the night, Faulconer had easily overtaken Alvarez with nearly 55 percent of the vote.
