Pot is legal in California now, but that doesn’t mean all of the marijuana businesses out there are operating legally. California regulators are vowing to crack down on illegal dispensaries and delivery services.

So far, they’ve sent 1,240 cease-and-desist letters to individuals and companies who advertise their services online. About 375 of those letters wound up in the hands of San Diego-based operators.

It’s unclear whether any of those people will be deterred. Regulating the black market has proven to be more difficult than imagined.

On this week’s San Diego Explained, Voice of San Diego’s Jesse Marx and NBC 7’s Monica Dean look into California’s efforts to police illegal marijuana businesses.
