The smell of sewage from the Tijuana River Valley is so bad, researchers are studying if the stink is posing a public health risk.
It is, according to preliminary results researchers released recently. Scientists with San Diego State University claimed there was a toxic gas in the area. This news caused a panic, but almost immediately, the county’s own experts were trying to quash concerns.
There’s no reason to be alarmed right now, county officials said. The instruments that the researcher used likely delivered false positive results, county officials said.

How is it that UCSD scientists working on this study have already interviewed hundreds of families for their research and MacKenzie hasn’t? If McKenzie were down here reporting on people’s experience, she would understand why they’re calling for an emergency and not helping feed the Newsom’s narrative, of “let Mexico fix it” as thousands continue to suffer.
