Monday, June 12, 2006 | Although Andy Killion makes some good points in his Letter to the Editor “Pot Calling Kettle Black,” I must disagree with at least one point: I do not see the government “sponsoring atheism/agnosticism over all other forms of religion.” I see that the government is trying to protect all people’s rights to their own beliefs, whether religious or not. The veteran’s memorial includes people of all races and beliefs. Why would anyone put up a cross and then say that the cross represents all of these veterans? So, all veterans are or were Christian? I don’t think so. By displaying a cross at the veteran’s memorial, you are denying the veterans their beliefs.

Stop wasting money and defying the courts. Raise money for a monument that really stands for something related to freedom and all veterans.
