Monday, March 10, 2008 | Southern California in general and San Diego in particular are finally being recognized, but in a disrespectful way. Even Scott Peters, who would be mayor, sees no reason to curb his imprudent water use.

The addiction for development and the notion that the Southern California desert that is San Diego should somehow be as lush as a tropical paradise is vulgar beyond belief.

It is time, folks, to kill your grass! That’s what we in Northern California have to do to conserve what we understand to be a finite resource that originates with us and has been exploited by the South.
