I’ve photographed the sign below way too many times. There’s not much to photograph at the site of a long-time-coming downtown library. It’s a big dirt patch. It was a big dirt patch when I was still but an intern here at voiceofsandiego.org. It was a big dirt patch when I went down there at the start of my tenure as a full-time employee. And, it was a big dirt patch when I went downtown yesterday to photograph Ballpark Village and the skyline for two great stories by my esteemed colleagues.

But something’s changed.

But fear not. I found the sign moments later. Right there on that big dirt patch:

Over in Opinion Land, my friend Scott Lewis has spent a lot of time (a fortnight I believe) writing about the debate over building a downtown library as well as the massive challenge of raising the private funding to finance it as construction costs continue to soar. It’s worth reading through some of his coverage.
