Our founders, community leaders Buzz Woolley and Neil Morgan, had a courageous vision when they decided to make this site not-for-profit. There were many naysayers. Yet, Voice has grown, won numerous awards, broken important news stories such as the scandal at our city’s Southeast Economic Development Corp. and received many accolades from all parts of our San Diego region.

Now, two very generous civic leaders have together donated $100,000 in the form of a matching grant. So, our “Double Your Voice” campaign is underway with a goal of matching their generosity and thereby raising a total of $200,000 for Voice. The vast majority of our budget goes toward the salaries of our full-time journalists, whose balanced and aggressive style has resulted in compliments from other well-known journalists across the nation.

Our model is much like that of public television. We receive no government funds. We rely on the generosity of our supporters, like you. Plus, we’ve been privileged to receive grants from such funds as The Legler Benbough Foundation and The San Diego Foundation. Click here to see a list of our donors.

If you make a donation between now and Sept. 30, your donation will actually be doubled. Voice needs your help. Please click here to find out how to make your contribution.
