“I got my first union, baby!”

That’s what Mike Aguirre told me when he called just now. The incumbent city attorney has just won an endorsement from the Laborers Union of North America, Local 89, a union that represents local construction workers.

Aguirre is hoping to win the support of as many organized labor groups as he can as he struggles in a heated reelection campaign against his challenger, Superior Court Judge Jan Goldsmith.

“I have fought for union rights since becoming an attorney and am honored to have the support of the Laborers International Union, Local 89, that represents the hard working men and women of San Diego,” Aguirre was quoted in a press release as saying.
