The New York Times’ travel section paid some attention to North Park this weekend, highlighting the neighborhood’s revitalization and claiming it is now “one of the city’s most vibrant and diverse districts.”

North Park was one of five pilot villages named in San Diego’s “City of Villages” redevelopment plan to create walk-able neighborhood centers. Though that program hasn’t gone as it was first envisioned, the cornerstone in the North Park redevelopment plan was the 2005 reopening of the Birch North Park Theatre, one of the attractions that caught the NYT’s eye for the travel piece.
