I finally got in touch with school board member Shelia Jackson to ask: Is she in the race for county supervisor or isn’t she?
To recap, we reported last week that Jackson was bowing out. A few days later, Jackson told the Union-Tribune it would be premature to draw that conclusion.
So I’d been calling Jackson to ask: Did she change her mind? Did we get it wrong? I went back and checked my notes, which showed that Jackson had told me last week, “I’m not running for supervisor.”
This morning, Jackson said she either did say or should have said “probably not running,” calling it a misunderstanding. (She never asked for a correction.) Probably “was the word that was missing there,” she said. “I am technically still in the race” because candidates don’t have to file papers yet.
